PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

My arts management career began in 2007, following a seventeen-year career in medicine.  Since then, I have gained over ten years of experience holding director-level positions in both the commercial and nonprofit art sectors while living in the coastal region of Southern Delaware.  In 2010, I began graduate studies at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, DC, earning an M.A. in Exhibition Design in 2014.

As Artistic Director of the Rehoboth Art League, a 501c3 member-based nonprofit arts organization, I transformed a historically seasonal (May to November) series of exhibits into a diverse year-round program of thirty special exhibitions and events.  My efforts in expanding the scope and quality of exhibitions were well-received by member artists, the community, and the Board of Trustees.  My efforts also resulted in an increase in gallery sales of over eighty percent in four years.  In 2015, my exhibition duties were expanded to include the sole management of the league’s Permanent Collection of over nine hundred fine and decorative artworks, the co-management of social media, marketing, and website activities, and working directly with and reporting to the Board of Trustees.  Other achievements include:

  • The development and implementation of Adopt-a-Work, an innovative fundraising campaign supporting the Collection resulted in the conservation treatment of eleven works of art its first year.

  • The development of Southern Delaware’s first regional juried photography exhibition that received over three-hundred submissions from artists living in five states and the District of Columbia its first year.

  • Collaborating with area photographers to develop and sustain an on-campus digital print studio open.

  • Successfully negotiating with the City of Rehoboth for a high-traffic, high-visibility, permanent off-campus exhibition site in
    City Hall.

  • Incorporating educational components to exhibitions and events in the form of gallery talks, and procuring curators, jurors, and judges from prestigious organizations including the Academy Art Museum, Biggs Museum of American Art, Delaware Art Museum, George Washington University, Maryland Institute College of Art, National Gallery of Art, Salisbury University, National Portrait Gallery, and Philadelphia Clayworks.
